Larry Fitzgerald Speaks Out On Retirement Decision

Larry Fitzgerald is coming off of his 17th season with the Arizona Cardinals. He is currently undecided on the possibility of returning to Arizona for another go-round. While taking part in a golf pro-am at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Fitzgerald spoke about his future in the NFL. He was very subtle and didn’t offer up to much clarity on what comes next. Instead, he is focused on golf for the time being.

Larry Fitzgerald is enjoying his offseason thus far and doesn’t appear to be close to making any decision about his playing future.

“I’m just playing golf right now, that’s all I’m worried about,” Fitzgerald said via Golfweek while playing at the Waste Management Phoenix Annexus Pro-Am at TPC Scottsdale.

“No timeline. I’m just taking it day by day. Honestly, I haven’t given it much thought.”

Leave it to Larry Fitzgerald to be so cool and collected about his decision to return after 17 seasons. Just like catching footballs on the field, he hardly even has to think about it. The 37-year-old was still productive for Arizona in 2020, pulling in 54 catches for 409 yards with a touchdown in 13 games.

Larry Fitzgerald’s numbers in 2020 were a far cry away from some of his bigger 1,000+ receiving yard seasons. However, the Cardinals would likely welcome the veteran back with open arms should he decide to return.
