JuJu Smith-Schuster Drops Hint That He’ll Be Parting Ways With The Steelers

JuJu Smith-Schuster has said publicly that he wants to get “paid what he deserves” this offseason. Well, it looks like that may not be by means of the Pittsburgh Steelers. With the NFL free agency season getting ready to open, we may have gotten a hint from the man, himself. JuJu is very connected to social media as we all know from his days doing Tik-Tok dances on opposing teams’ logos. Fast forward to today, and JuJu has voted on a Sports Illustrated poll saying “that’s a negative” to the question of whether or not he will be returning to the Steelers.

The Steelers will have a decision to make with JuJu Smith-Schuster this offseason. And according to him, his time there looks to have expired. With the extension of Big Ben at quarterback, the Steelers are facing a bit of a salary cap issue. Even if they wanted to extend JuJu, they may not have the funds to be able to pay him what he wants.

Per USA Today:

Pittsburgh’s salary cap problem, with just $6.1 million in cap space. The Steelers may feel it’s wise to let someone else pay big money for JuJu Smith-Schuster, rather than crunch the numbers to retain the wideout.

So is the JuJu era over in Pittsburgh? It sure looks like it. Letting Juju go is likely in this team’s best interest, as there are other needs to fill on the roster. They will still have a talented receiving corp in Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson, and James Washington, should they choose to let JuJu go. Look for the Steelers to spend money on the offensive line, running backs, and maintaining their top defensive players.
