Judge Makes Critical Ruling In The Cain Velasquez Attempted Murder Case

UFC legend Cain Velasquez has been dominating headlines for the past couple of weeks following a highly-controversial court case.

Earlier in the month, it was reported that Velasquez had been book on an attempted murder charge. But shortly thereafter, the consensus among insiders was that Velasquez was chasing down an alleged perpetrator in a sexual harrassment claim from one of his kids’ daycare centers.

On Monday, Cain Velasquez appeared in court, where a judge denied his request to be let out on bail.

“It is clear to this court that there is clear and convincing evidence that there is a substantial likelihood that release would result in great bodily injury, not just to the named complaining witnesses in this case but to Santa Clara residents at large,” the judge said.

“Ramming a vehicle in the middle of the day where are citizens are out driving, going about their business and shooting out of a car at other individuals …” Brown continued. “Anyone could have been killed … With that said, this court is making the ruling that the risk is too great and that there will be no bail set at this time.”

Cain Velasquez (or any members of his family) have yet to speak out on the incident. But several UFC fighters have already spoken out on their colleagues unique situation, many of which using the #freecain hashtag on social media.

As it stands, Velasquez will not be given the benefit of the doubt in this case given the personal nature of the accusations. But we’ll continue to monitor for any updates.
