Since being drafted in the first round by the Arizona Cardinals, former UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen has had a tough go in the NFL.
He has been chewed up and spit out by team after team. And after Tuesday’s news, he’ll be looking to catch on with his fifth team in just four seasons.
It was announced this afternoon that the 49ers were releasing Josh Rosen.
The #49ers are waiving QB Josh Rosen, source says. Rosen mentioned recently he wasnβt getting enough reps in practice. A chance to latch on elsewhere for the rest of camp now.

I'm old enough to remember when the consensus was that Steve Keim would be insane to draft Kyler Murray one year after drafting Josh Rosen.
Talked to a Cards fan about that recently and we both agreed it's pretty safe that Keim would be fired by now if he didn't draft Kyler. https://t.co/UPutnX9ihJ

49ers cut the Chosen One Josh Rosen.
Rosen will always be my prime example of why it matters more what team you are drafted to than what number you are drafted in regard to 1st and 2nd round QBs

Like many quarterbacks, Josh Rosen was a cocky sonofabitch when he fell to #10 in the NFL Draft. But unlike a lot of guys, Rosen never backed up his talk.
He was passed up on after just one year in Arizona, and has yet to find a permanent role, even as a backup.
The Niners gave Josh Rosen a lot of snaps in their preseason game last week, so he should have some looks from teams around the league looking for a backup or third string QB. But this is definitely not the career trajectory we were expecting a few years ago.
