Montreal Canadiens Defenseman Joel Edmundson Has Strong Words After ‘Dirty’ Hit By Mark Scheifele On Jake Evans

As Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans was finishing off an empty net goal to cap an impressive Game One win over the Jets, he was steamrolled by Mark Scheifele with a blindside hit. Evans was sent flying to the ice after finishing off the dagger, and had to be taken off the ice in a stretcher.

After the game, many Canadiens players lashed out against the dirty hit by Scheifele on Jake Evans, but nobody had a stronger message than defenseman Joel Edmundson.

Not only did Edmundson say that Scheifele should be suspended by the NHL, but he sent a warning message if Mark Scheifele were to return at any point during the series.

“It was a dirty hit. But the league’s going to take care of it. If he gets back in the series, we’re going to make his life miserable,” Joel Edmundson said in his postgame presser.

So far, there is no update on the condition Jake Evans is in after being taken off the ice.

It would appear that he has been taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation, and we’ll keep out eyes peeled for any updates in the near future.

In the meantime, Joel Edmundson and the Montreal Canadiens will have to try to focus on expanding on their 1-0 series lead.

The NHL is going to have a hard decision to make on Mark Scheifele. If he does return during this series, Joel Edmundson is confirming that we’ll see some fireworks.
