Joel Dahmen’s Reaction To Winning His First PGA Event Is Why We Love Sports

After 11 years of grinding it out on the PGA Tour, Joel Dahmen is finally a winner.

In his 111th try on the Tour, Dahmen took home the trophy at the Puntacana Resort & Club Championship in the Dominican Republic this weekend. His reaction after hitting his last putt on the 18th hole says it all.

After pouring out his emotions, Joel Dahmen said it best. “It is so frickin hard to win a golf tournament,” Dahmen declared. What a moment here for Dahmen, his caddie, and his wife, who have been through a lot with him.

The main obstacle Dahmen and his wife had to leap over was when the golfer was diagnosed with testicular cancer. In 2011, he was able to beat the cancer, and quickly re-joined the tour to chase his dream of finally taking home a trophy from a PGA TOUR event. That dream has now been captured.

“Yeah, this is just a lot of validation … this is just really special,” Dahmen said via Golf Digest. “There’s a whole part of that, you just kind of have to kind of put it all on the line, put yourself out there. And if you’re not good enough, you’re not good enough, but if you put yourself out there, at least you’re going to find out.”

After fulfilling his media obligations, the party was on for Joel Dahmen, who promised fans that he was going to get the most out of his celebration.

Cheers to Joel Dahmen, what an awesome story. It’s simply impossible not to root for a guy like that.
