Golfing legend Jack Nicklaus is all in on the MAGA train. Here was his pro-Trump tweet from earlier this evening.
Get out and vote. I did! pic.twitter.com/IfQb3NeSO3
— Jack Nicklaus (@jacknicklaus) October 29, 2020
“His love for America and its citizens, and putting his country first, has come through loud and clear. How he has said it has not been important to me. What has been important are his actions. Now, you have the opportunity to take action,” Nicklaus said.
The “Golden Bear” added that he “strongly recommends” people to vote for Trump.

Trump was so prod to receive this endorsement, that he even pinned the tweet.
People responded to Nicklaus’s post with a lot of hostility.
Love ya, Jack, but #BunkerBoy is a divisive, incompetent, sexist bigot. He cares about nothing but himself & his business. He's botched the COVID response, leading to the deaths of countless Americans. #Strokeahontas has the intelligence of a rock & the maturity of a toddler. pic.twitter.com/cpXlUu6wAK

Sir, you have been one of my heroes for as long as I can remember. Through my grandfather and you, I was introduced to a game I love. I don’t have any followers, so not a big name. How did you get this so wrong? So disappointed, crushed, and stymied.

I have lost all respect for jack that I ever had. This was a horrible horrible thing to do. I respect the Nicklaus name no longer. I will not play any of his courses or have anything to do with his “brand” going forward. Very poor choice or words and very poor choice to side with

This will be a stain on your legacy and that hurts my heart.

Nicklaus is one of the most popular athletes of all time. Why would he feel the need to go out and make a statement like this? He could have just said nothing, and continued to be in everyones good graces. Now, he will have fallen out of favor with so many people.
I’m not going to lie, this ruins Nicklaus a little bit for me, too. I wasn’t around when he was dominated the world of golf, but I’ve seen his accolades. I’ve watched his incredible win at the Masters in 1986. Now, he’s just another old Trumper to me.
Nicklaus’s support for Trump will be a tough pill to swallow for a lot of people.
