Houston Police Dept Sheds Light On Potential Criminal Case Against Deshaun Watson

Deshaun Watson’s offseason took a wild turn after several women have come out to accuse the Houston Texans quarterback of sexual assault.

Houston attorney Tony Buzbee has brought forward over 14 civil lawsuits against Deshaun Watson. But he has shared his plans to turn over evidence to the Houston PD, which would turn this into a criminal matter, as well.

“Per advice from a well known criminal defense attorney: Our team will be submitting affidavits and evidence from several women, who had experiences with Deshaun Watson, to the Houston Police Department and the Houston District Attorney, on Monday morning. We will request that a grand jury be empaneled to consider the evidence we provide,” Buzbee said last week.

According to ABC 13 in Houston, Buzbee has not taken that step yet.

“The Houston Police Department said on Thursday it has not received any documentation of evidence from attorney Tony Buzbee.

Buzbee announced on Sunday night that his team would be “submitting affidavits and evidence from several women” on Monday, March 22. The police department told Eyewitness News on Thursday that so far, nothing has been received.”

While Deshaun Watson has much bigger things to worry about than football right now, the distinction between a civil and criminal case could be massive towards his situation.

If enough evidence is brought forward to where Deshaun Watson will have to face a criminal investigation, it’s hard to imagine him playing in the NFL anytime soon. We’ll have to wait and see.
