There have been many reports that prized Japanese slugger, Seiya Suzuki, was close to deciding which MLB team he was going to play for.
Monday morning, some insiders indicated that the Padres were current front runner to land Suzuki. But the Japanese star took to social media himself to hilariously deem those rumors not true.
Later in the day, it was reported that Seiya Suzuki had a meeting scheduled with the Chicago Cubs tonight.

To add to the Seiya Suzuki rumors, Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer assured his fan base that the team was far from done signing players prior to Opening Day.
“Certainly we’re going to add a lot more players,” Hoyer said. “It’s not a knock on the guys here, but we have open spots and we’ll continue to add.”
Other teams reportedly showing interest in Seiya Suzuki include the Dodgers, Red Sox, and Rays.
Last season, Suzuki hit 38 home runs over the course of 132 games in the Japan Central League. He officially became a free agent last week, but apparently feels no rush to make a decision.
Obviously, there is a huge market for Seiya Suzuki’s services, and the bidding war is bound to end with him receiving a hefty contract from a contending team.
