Former Jets DL Steve McLendon High Tailed It To Tampa Bay Immediately After Hearing He Was Traded

Steve McLendon could not get out of New York fast enough. After hearing he had been dealt to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to Fox Sports, the veteran lineman hopped in his car and drove straight to Tampa after hearing he had been traded to the Buccaneers.

Who can blame McLendon here? I would be dancing in the locker room if I was in his shoes and found out I didn’t have to play for Adam Gase anymore. Mclendon has been around a long time, and who knows how many years he has left? Now, he gets to go from wasting his time, to joining Tom Brady and a real contender.

Steve McLendon is just the latest domino to fall for a Jets team that appears to be cleaning house. Before the year, they traded Jamaal Adams to the Seahawks, they recently cut Le’Veon Bell, and now they’re moving on from McLendon. If I was a Jets fan I’d want to know how many guys are going to leave before we get to see Adam Gase pack his bags?

McLendon joined the Jets prior to the start of the 2016 season. He had 158 tackles and 7.5 sacks with the team before he was traded. He’ll likely help fill the void left from Vita Vea, who the Bucs lost to a season-ending injury.
