The Chicago Cubs Appear To Be Set For “Field Of Dreams” Game In 2022

The Field Of Dreams Game doesn’t seem like it’s going to go anywhere.

As the first game at the Field Of Dreams stadium in Iowa is all set for tomorrow between the Yankees and White Sox, it looks like another Chicago team will be enjoying the corn fields next season.

According to Cubs beat writer Gordon Wittenmyer, manager David Ross let it slip on Wednesday that his team is likely going to be playing in the Field of Dreams game next year.

While a potential opponent for the Cubs in the Field of Dreams game has not been leaked yet, the Cardinals would be a pretty good bet.

The Cardinals and Cubs have one of the longest lasting rivalries in sports, both play in the midwest (near Iowa), and the red birds were supposed to play in the game in 2020 before COVID ruined the chance.

St. Louis manager Mike Shildt has talked about his team’s desire to play in the Field of Dreams ballpark.

While we are still a long ways away from the second annual Field of Dreams game in 2022, it’s a pretty good bet that the matchup will be Cubs vs. Cardinals. Obviously things can change, though.
