Former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning was drafted by the San Diego Chargers. That didn’t go so well. Manning famously forced the Chargers to trade him after the draft. Manning said he might have just played for the Chargers if he’d known how the New York media would be.
Via Fox Sports:
“I didn’t realize that the New York media was what it was at the time, I might have thought a little bit differently,” Manning said. “If I knew about the New York media and how brutal it can be, I might have just said ‘you know what, San Diego is the right spot for me.'”
Playing in New York has its Pros and Cons.
You win, you’re a legend forever. You lose, well, they’re going to go hard.

It all worked out for Eli. He won 2 Superbowls and 2 SB MVPs. Had he ended up in San Diego, there’s a good chance he would have never even sniffed a Super Bowl.
