EFL Push Back League Cup Final In A Bid To Have Fans Return In Numbers

This season’s EFL League Cup final has been pushed back to around the end of April 2021 in a desperate move.

The organisers of the competition popularly known as the Carabao Cup are doing everything possible to have fans return in good numbers before the showpiece is played next year.

You feel this is extremely important to help curb the issue of the tourney losing its marketability and what have you.

It is only hoped the effects of Covid pandemic have been reduced to a minimal by then..

“This season’s Carabao Cup final has been rescheduled and will now take place on Sunday 25 April 2021, with a 4pm kick-off”, an official statement from the EFL revealed.

“It is the objective of the League to stage the final with as many supporters in attendance as possible. And the decision has therefore been taken to move the final from its original date of Sunday February 28, 2021 to later in the year.

“The number of fans permitted will be
dependent on Government guidance in place at the time. And it is hoped that moving the date to later in the year will give clubs and their fans the best opportunity to attend in person.”

And i’m all for it really. If games such like this need pushed back in a bid to have fans in attendance, then so be it.

These Covid days have had us taking desperate measures, yeah. This will be just one of it.

OK, I’m not damning the consequences of having large masses exposed to this virus still out there but we’re soon reaching the heights of being down for just anything. For the love of this game.

Hopefully, the Carabao final will have a lot of fans with this move, even if the pandemic is still raging on come April.
