The Denver Broncos were in quite a pickle for their week 12 game. They had no active QB’s on the roster, after Drew Lock was designated on the COVID list. The Broncos were forced to start a QB turned receiver from the practice squad. Let’s just say it didn’t turn out so well. Lock was taking some heat for missing the game, but luckily for him, his mother was able to set the record straight.
Laura Lock took to Twitter to explain her son’s situation:

Twitter reacted to Lock’s Mom’s plea:

I don't understand the point. They "all tested negative that day". We all know full well that you can test negative and give someone Covid. And I am sure they have been given the rules over and over and over again.
So this is a failure of QB leadership, not an example of it.

Son: Doesn’t follow the rules
Mom: “WHY ARE THEY PUNISHING HIM FOR NOT FOLLOWING THE RULES?”
It’s the NFL, not Mizzou. The Shield always comes before the player.

With all due respect, I know he’s your son, but it would’ve been extremely unlikely that your son would’ve lifted the Broncos to a win against that saints defense

With respect, you’re wrong.
It’s great that your son and those around him have taken so many precautions to stay safe — that was sensible.
However, your son and his fellow QBs made a mistake as soon as they gathered together like that — that was foolish.

You literally just made the situation worse. Cue the "Mommy" jokes. Let your adult son fight his own battles.

Sorry. Wear a mask. It’s that simple.
— Panhandle Hokie (@HokieGuy1996) December 1, 2020
For one, this should come from Drew not you. For two, regardless of where he was, he knew about the protocols and acted against them. If he is separating himself from his family to stay healthy, he can wear a mask for film

No one in that room – your son included – had a mask on. Delete this foolishness at once

Having your mother go to bat for you is not a good look. She means well, but this is something Drew should have done for himself. If Drew didn’t want to be under the scrutiny of a covid environment and protocols, maybe he should have opted out.
What a crazy year.
