The Denver Broncos Walk Through A COVID Human Car Wash Every Day To Disinfect Themselves Before Practice

The NFL has come under fire for their handling of their season thus far with players like Odell Beckham Jr. even concerned they’re not being viewed as humans. While I think the jury is still out about how the NFL will handle things in the lead-up to the season’s expected start date, Odell Beckham might be onto something with the whole “not human” thing. Based on the Denver Broncos’ practices, it seems like they’re quite literally being treated like cars:

Now to be clear, I don’t actually thing this is subhuman in any bad way. If anything it’s not human in a fun way like Lightning McQueen and his talking automobile friends in Cars.

But it’s still kind of funny to see all those news items around Odell Beckham Jr.’s quotes only to see players washed like a car or circus elephant the next day. And I appreciate the specific call-out that the cleaning products used are “non-toxic” in case you were afraid of players walking out of the other side looking like this:

Either way, I’m going to view this as a positive. At this point, anything that seems more like concern and preparation gives me hope that this NFL season will look less like the MLB’s dumpster fire efforts and more like the NBA’s pristine bubble setup. Hopefully this COVID car wash actually helps the players stay safe with a minimum amount of effort. And, if nothing else, I hope it keeps their bumpers and rims looking nice and fresh. You’d normally have to pay a steep price for the kind of quality cleaning and detailing these Broncos players received.
