Delonte West Agrees To Plea Deal Stemming From Incident Outside Police Station

Former NBA player Delonte West has been in the news the last few years for all the wrong reasons.

West has agreed to pay $100 to settle a criminal case related to an October incident outside a police station in Boynton Beach, Florida.

The incident went down in Boynton Beach, Florida in October.

West was reportedly banging on glass doors at the Boynton Beach police department lobby while yelling obscenities and homophobic slurs. Reports also say that he was holding two open containers of alcohol.

Watch below:

West then walked away from police and was ordered to place his alcohol containers on the ground. After complying, the police reports state that he reached for his waistband. A cop then pulled out a Taser and West “continued to be belligerent and screaming profanities and obscure rants” while he was placed in a patrol car.

Police report that he reeked of alcohol and his speech was slurred. He was “resisting an officer without violence, disorderly intoxication and having an open container,” before being released from bail according to WPTV.

West has a history of substance misuse, but he’d appeared to turn a corner in his recovery in late 2020 and early 2021 after completing a rehab stay before working at Rebound Rehabilitation Physical Therapy in Florida where he’d been treated, per ESPN.

Hopeully West continues to seek treatment.
