David Ortiz Wasted No Time Roasting Adam Wainwright On His First Day With Fox

David Ortiz has been waiting to roast Adam Wainwright for a long time. Today, he got his chance.

“Why did it take you guys so long in 2013 to stop pitching to me in 2013,” Ortiz asks Wainwright. “I cannot believe you brought that up,” Wainwright responds.

Big Papi has a point here. He was an absolute beast in the 2013 World Series, and it got to the point where you would think the Cardinals would just pitch around him. But instead, Ortiz continued to burn the red birds all series long. Ortiz hit 11-for-16 (. 688) with a 1.948 OPS, two home runs and six RBIs against the Cardinals that series en route to being the World Series MVP.

Wainwright should thank the baseball gods that Ortiz’s grand slam bid in the first clip of this video was robbed by Carlos Beltran, or he might be hearing about it all postseason long.

In all seriousness, it seems like this was all in good fun. Wainwright’s story he tells after  David Ortiz calls out his Cardinals is pretty funny. Wainwright’s nearing the end of his career and he sounds like a natural in the booth with these guys.

It sure seems like he’s destined for a career in broadcasting after his playing days, and I’m sure he’ll do great. Hopefully it happens sooner rather than later, and he can stop killing my Cubs every time he takes the ball against us.
