“Danny Dimes” Trending After Horribly Awful Throw During Scrimmage

Any way you look at it, this season is a make or break year for New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

The former first round pick has shown flashes of decent quarterback play over the last two seasons, but he hasn’t done nearly enough to convince the Giants’ brass that he’s the long term answer at quarterback.

Jones’ throw during a Thursday scrimmage won’t help the perception of him.

During the teams scrimmage, Daniel Jones threw a ball over the middle of the field despite the fact that no receiver was in the area, and the pass fell right into a defenders lap.

Many people were tweeting out “Danny Dimes” jokes after Daniel Jones’ terrible moment.

Danny Dimes’ Last Chance

Despite the likelihood that Daniel Jones needs reps, coach Joe Judge has announced that the starting QB will not be playing during the team’s preseason game against the Jets on Saturday.

Recently, Giants GM Dave Gettleman pointed to the “three year rule” as a reason why he’s still confident in his young quarterback.

“Bill Walsh wrote a book called ‘The Winning Edge.’ One of the things he talked about was the two-year rule. Of course he wrote it based on his history in the late 80s and early 90s. And he wrote it based on that and (said) everybody has two years to show where they were. We’re in the three-year rule. The game that colleges are playing is not our game. Not even remotely close. … So it’s a three-year rule now, and obviously this is an important year for Daniel and an important year for us. What can I tell you? I’m stating the obvious. I have great confidence in him, great faith in him. He’s done some really good stuff in camp so far. You know, you gotta remember he switched offenses. Jason (Garrett) came in, it’s a new offense, it’s new verbiage, it’s new this, it’s new that. It’s a new way of thinking. So it takes time, it takes time. But I have great confidence in Daniel Jones.”

We’ll see if Daniel Jones can get it figured out in year three.
