Damian Lillard Denies Report That He’ll Request To Be Traded But Doesn’t Sound Too Happy

On Friday, Damian Lillard was trending after reports began to circulate that he was close to requesting a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers.

Unfortunately for fans of the 76ers, Knicks, Lakers Warriors, and any other team who felt they might have a shot at Damian Lillard, it looks like he’s staying put.

Lillard spoke out against the rumors, claiming he ‘woke up’ to all the news surrounding him.

Damian Lillard: "I woke up to those reports, a lot of people reaching out to me. But it's not true. I'll start off the rip and say it's not true. A lot of things are being said. It hasn't come from me. I haven't made any firm decision on what my future will be."

Damian Lillard would go on to say that he fully expects to be in a Trail Blazers uniform when next season begins.

But he also said that he wants to win, and he’s not sure if Portland can win a championship as they’re currently constructed.

“If you look at our team as it is, I don’t think you can say this is a championship team with a new coach,” Lillard said on Friday afternoon.

For now, Damian Lillard is not trying to create a whole situation by formally requesting a trade. But if things don’t change in Portland, and quick, Lillard will be looking for a way to get out of the city he’s given his heart and soul to.
