Conor McGregor Admits He Took Dustin Poirier Too Lightly Last Time

Conor McGregor is back to his usual ways for his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier.

After being relatively civil in the lead up to their last fight, McGregor is now using all of his tricks to try to troll Poirier ahead of Saturday’s event. He even posted a picture of Poirier’s wife, Jolie, to his Twitter page.

Conor McGregor was knocked out by Dustin Poirier in January. But he’s insisting that the result was a product of him not taking the fight seriously enough.

“I pitied the man,” McGregor said, via ESPN’s Marc Raimondi. “I was looking past him. I had a Manny Pacquiao camp in place.”

This time, McGregor vows that he’s coming for Dustin Poirier’s throat.

“I’m coming in to kill this man,” Conor McGregor said. “I’m coming in with vicious intent here. Mortar shots. What else can I say? That’s the way it is… I’m looking to take this man out cold.”

Conor McGregor has had a steep fall-out from when he was the most dominant fighter in the UFC. Over the past four years, Conor has only won once. And it was a knockout win against an aging Donald Cerrone in 2020.

While Dustin Poirier was a huge underdog in the January fight, he currently sits as a slight favorite to beat Conor McGregor in the trilogy.

No matter the result, UFC 264 should be one hell of a show.
