Charles Barkley Went On An Epic Rant About The NCAA

You never know what is going to come out of the moth of Charles Barkley. However, whatever you get from him is always going to be honest and very opinionated. Kenny Smith was talking about the NCAA and the lack of brevity in its rulebook. Charles Barkley interjected to express his opinion on how big of a joke the NCAA is. He began by calling them the “Barney Fife of the world”. And if you know Charles Barkley at all, you know he didn’t hold back one bit.

Here is what Charles Barkley had to say in case you missed it.

“The NCAA, they’re like the Barney Fife of the world. They do an awful job of administrating,” Barkley said. “We’ve got guys on teams, paying players three years ago, and they ain’t said nothing about it. The NCAA, they are so far behind the times, they’re so reactive. It’s time for them to get their crap together. They say they want to stop cheating, they want to make everything equal, with the women which was a travesty and a disgrace…It’s time for us guys, the coaches to say ‘yo man, y’all gotta do a better job.’”

Charles Barkley is absolutely right about at least one thing. The NCAA is 100% a reactive league. However, typically, their reaction to things that happen is far too late and creates a slippery slope. Their rulings often lead to no real changes being made and expectations aren’t altered one bit.

You have to give props to Barkley for being honest about the dumpster fire that is the NCAA all while covering the tournament. It isn’t easy to be critical of the job you are currently hosting, especially doing it on live television. Honesty isn’t always the simple road, but it’s what you get when it comes to Charles Barkley. The bottom line is that the NCAA needs to do a better job. Plain and simple.
