Space Jam sequel already being targeted by Cancel Culture. Cancel Culture can make or break a piece of entertainment in mere seconds. On Twitter the mobs come with their metaphorical pitch forks to bring down anyone who isn’t towing the line. The latest cancel culture mob scene may be coming for the sequel to the much beloved movie Space Jam. Comedian Gabriel Iglesias is taking a pre-emptive strike, going to bat for his role as Speedy Gonzales in “Space Jam: A New Legacy.”
Iglesias took to Twitter to defend the character and his role.
“I am the voice of Speedy Gonzales in the new Space Jam. Does this mean they are gonna try to cancel Fluffy too? U can’t catch me cancel culture. I’m the fastest mouse in all of Mexico,” the 44-year-old actor tweeted on Saturday.

The character Speedy Gonzales debuted in 1953, definitely a different time and place.
The mouse isn’t the only cartoon animal under fire. The much anticipated sequel has already garnered some controversy over a scene that was left on the cutting room floor of Pepé Le Pew.
Via Deadline:
“He starred in the first Warner Bros. Space Jam movie back in 1996, however, Pepe Le Pew will not be showing up at all in the upcoming theatrical sequel Space Jam: A New Legacy on July 16.
With the Looney Tunes French skunk besieged by controversy in the wake of New York Times columnist Charles M. Blow slamming that the cartoon character “added to rape culture,” Deadline has learned that a hybrid live-action animation scene between Jane the Virgin actress Greice Santo and Pepe Le Pew, shot back in June 2019 for Space Jam 2 was left on the cutting room floor.”

When humans start cancelling cartoons, you know everyone has pretty much jumped the shark.
Not sure how any form of comedy will be able to exist in the future.
