Buddy Boeheim Releases Statement After Being Seen Punching Opponent

Buddy Boeheim, son one longtime Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim, is under heavy fire for a dirty act during the first game of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday.

During the Syracuse blowout win over Florida State, Boeheim was seen throwing a punch at his opponent when fighting for a rebound.

While he was going viral, Buddy Boeheim shared some remorse for his dirty play after the game.

“In the heat of today’s game, after some shoving in the lane, I swung my arm while turning to go back up the court,” Boeheim said in a statement. “It was wrong to act out in frustration. I apologized to Wyatt Wilkes multiple times in the handshake line. He said not to worry about, but I know it was wrong. I pride myself in respecting the game ands our opponent. I will not react that way again.”

Was The Buddy Boeheim Play Dirty?

Jim Boeheim was asked about his son’s viral play during his post game presser, and wad adamant the punch was an inadvertent reaction to getting shoved multiple times.

“The kid (Wilkes) pushed him twice and he swung around and hit him,” Jim Boeheim said. “I think it was inadvertent, but that’s okay.”

The NCAA is believed to be reviewing the play to see if a suspension could be in order for Buddy Boeheim.
