Big Ben Roethlisberger said he’d like to play another season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ben also said he’d be willing to restructure his contract to lessen the Steelers’ salary cap situation for the 2021 season. Now it appears Ben hasn’t followed up on that promise. Roethlisberger told Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette today that he has not met with the Steelers as of yet.

Roethlisberger texted with Pouncey Thursday night and said "I didn’t feel right trying to talk him out of it. I'm still processing him retiring. That’s hard for me." Roethlisberger still has not met with Steelers about what they want to do.

Twitter reacted:
It's mind boggling Ben won't retire. Contrast him to Brady who goes to a new team and LEADS them to a SB win..while Ben laments and whines about losing Pouncey. Ben is not a leader..never has been. Retire. He doesn't have the stomach for it.

Ben won’t be back. Always talked that those two would walk out together. Ben won’t be back. Be prepared Steeler fans. We will be cheering for another QB next year. https://t.co/eduSPU2DP7

Ben needs to go too, then we hopefully lose Tomlin/Butler next year. We need A pseudo fresh start. https://t.co/itZD9Ftlo8

I wouldn’t be shocked if Ben also hangs it up now, which would kind of leave the Steelers screwed at QB this year unless they can deal for one like Darnold.
Pouncey and Vance retired, big Al is gone, doubtful Conner & Juju return…going to be a youth movement for the Steelers. https://t.co/HXE3KzZJ1z

Steelers President Art Rooney II said the team can’t afford to bring Roethlisberger back without lowering his cap number, so it might be time for a sit down.
If Big Ben is still on the roster on March 19th, the Steelers would have to pay Roethlisberger a $15 million roster bonus.
Something isn’t adding up.
