Emily Mayfield Speaks Out After NFL Keeps Her Husband In COVID Protocols For Raiders Game

Baker Mayfield is officially out for today’s pivotal Brown-Raiders game. And his wife, Emily Mayfield, isn’t happy about it.

The QB was placed in COVID protocol early last week. And even though the league pushed the game back from Sunday to Monday, the team will still be forced to play third-string QB Nick Mullens today.

After it was announced that Baker Mayfield would not be allowed to play, Emily Mayfield took to Twitter to speak out on how they did everything they could to fulfill the league’s COVID rules.

“Super frustrating since [Baker] feels 110 [percent],” she tweeted. “He did EVERYTHING he could to get that negative test… but we can only control what’s in our control. And this isn’t one of those things.”

“You better believe we’ll be cheering LOUD from our couch,” Mayfield added. Saying, “Our guys can get it done!!”

Baker and Emily Mayfield will now be forced to watch the game from home. And hope that the COVID-riddled Browns can take a significant step in their playoff push without the QB1 or his backup, Case Keenum.

All over the league we’re seeing more and more teams suffer from a COVID outbreaks and rescheduling. But perhaps it hasn’t hit any locker room as hard as the Browns.

It’ll be interested to see if the team can still compete without Baker Mayfield and many other starters on Monday afternoon.
