Atlanta Braves Outfielder Marcel Ozuna Arrested For Domestic Abuse

Atlanta Braves OF Marcel Ozuna, 30, was already going to miss some time as he was placed on the 10-day injured list with two fracture fingers. Now it looks like it might be the end of his playing days as we know it.

According to multiple news outlets, Ozuna, who signed a 4 year / $65 Million guaranteed contract earlier this year with the Atlanta Braves, was arrested on Saturday where two warrants were exercised; one for aggravated assault by strangulation under the domestic violence act, and battery under the domestic violence act.

The Atlanta Braves released the following statement concerning the arrest.

Ozuna and his wife have had issues like this in the past. His wife was arrested and charged with domestic battery after she allegedly threw a soap dish and hit him in the face. She was given a stay away order after pleading not guilty.

Ozuna had a great 2020 shortened season with the Braves recording 18 HRs, 56 RBIs, and hitting .338 in just 60 games. He had not been having the same results this season with just 7 HRs, 26 RBIS, and hitting .213 over the first 48 games of the regular season.

After reading the Braves statement it seems quite clear that if in fact he is charged then his playing days with the club and potentially the league will be over as he will likely be facing a lengthy suspension if convicted.
