Yankees’ Aroldis Chapman Gets $150,000 Jeep, Ready for Second-Half of 2020

New York Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman looks like he’s ready for this season and pretty much anything else 2020 can throw at him. In a story first reported by TMZ, the flame-throwing lefty spent $150,000 on a monster of a custom six-wheeled Jeep. This is the purchase of a man who is thinking of other issues than normal traffic on the Major Deegan on the way to Yankee Stadium. Just look at this beast.

The six-wheeled custom monster is a standard Jeep frame cut in half and extended by four feet. After Aroldis Chapman asked for something unique and cool, the design team from South Florida Jeeps customized the entire vehicle by hand to the pitcher’s standards. A third axle was added along with a 600-horsepower twin turbo diesel engine. The owner of the custom shop, Joe Ghattas, told the New York Post “The thing is an absolute monster. It’s huge, it’s loud and it’s just offensive to all the senses.”

One of Chapman’s primary requests was black Kevlar lining for the outside of the entire truck. The team from South Florida Jeeps obliged him while decking out the interior in red leather sporting Chapman’s “Cuban Missile” logo.

Despite the end product looking like the exact truck that would be the result of an overnight welding session in an apocalypse movie, Ghattas’ team took more than two months to complete the custom job for Aroldis Chapman. The closer was apparently extremely happy with his purchase, as Ghattas would tell TMZ, “He doesn’t speak a whole lot of English, but he was smiles from ear to ear. He said, ‘It’s fucking awesome.'”

The vehicle, now the envy of quiet rural police departments nationwide apparently even gets 29 miles to the gallon on the highway. Unfortunately any savings provided on gas is going to be offset by the cost of ammunition for the turret-mounted mini-guns that this behemoth is clearly hiding somewhere.

I’m not exactly sure what he knows is coming in the second-half of 2020 but I feel like Aroldis Chapman has transportation pretty well handled for anything from plowing through zombie hordes to travelling the nuclear wasteland to fleeing from murder hornets.
