Alexander Ovechkin Wants To Finish Career In The KHL

Alex Ovechkin wants to return home to finish off his illustrious career. Just not quite yet. The Washington Capitals Superstar spoke on his desire to return to Russia to finish off his playing days in the KHL.

“There are certain goals that I want to achieve after my career,” Ovechkin said in Russian during an interview with Russian Television International. “But my career is not over yet. I’m still in my prime. I think I will definitely play for a few more years, God grant that my health is good. I would finish in Russia at Dynamo Moscow.”

At 35-years-old, Ovechkin is still a force. One of the most prolific goal scorers in the NHL (if not the most). When his career comes to an end, he will undoubtedly join other NHL legends in the Hall-Of-Fame. However, his work isn’t done yet. The Capitals are still one of the best teams in the NHL, and they’ll need Ovechkin to be at his best if they want to win another Stanley Cup in the near future.

Ovechkin doesn’t plan to bail any time soon.

“It is clear, in two, three, four years, maybe five, I will end my career in Washington,” he said. “I want to end on a beautiful note – to play my last match for Dynamo Moscow.”

Ovechkin started his career for Dynamo Moscow. In fact, he has only ever played for 2 teams, Dynamo Moscow and Washington. He intends to keep it that way.

“It’s not a question of money. It’s a matter of principle: I played for only two teams – Dynamo and Washington,” he said.
