Alex Smith Calls Packers Treatment Of Aaron Rodgers ‘Inexcusable’

While the NFL world waits to see if Aaron Rodgers will cave and show up to Green Bay Packers training camp this Summer, a lot of current and former athletes are weighing in on the whole situation.

Some people think Aaron Rodgers is acting like a diva, and others are on his side that the Packers should be going above and beyond to keep a player of Rodgers’ caliber happy. Recently retired QB Alex Smith is fully on team Rodgers.

Smith went on “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd today and spoke in length about how he feels Green Bay’s management has failed their star quarterback. Smith is of the belief that the Packers needed to keep Rodgers in the loop when they were in the process of drafting quarterback Jordan Love:

It seems like Alex Smith represents the view that most players in this generation have when it comes to how star players are treated. We live in a day and age where teams need to make sure their top players are happy.

Take Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs, for example. He goes to Patrick Mahomes with roster decisions, draft advice and makes sure that the superstar quarterback is highly compensated. New England refused to do the same with Tom Brady, and they lost him.

If the Packers aren’t careful, the same thing is about to happen with them and Aaron Rodgers.
