It appears that the Leiter family isn’t done churning out MLB talent.
Jack Leiter, the son of former MLB pitcher Al Leiter, is the ace of the Vanderbilt pitching staff and has shown he has the stuff that’ll play at the next level. Today, that stuff was on full display.
Leiter notched 16 K’s en route to a no-hit performance over South Carolina on Saturday. Not only was Leiter completely dominant throughout the game, but he retired 27 consecutive hitters after walking one guy in the first inning.

After the game, Jack Leiter talked about his unreal performance.
“Walking the first guy, obviously, is not something you want to do,” Leiter said in his postgame interview on SEC Network. “But I would say, not until the fifth, sixth, seventh inning, is when it started to feel different from other games.”
In line with the old-school baseball approach, Leiter revealed no one said anything about his no-no until the game was over.
“No one said anything, it was kind of an unspoken thing, I just did the same thing I did in any inning,” Leiter said of his routine in between innings. “I would just sit down quietly, and gather my thoughts.
“I really do try to always say, ‘next pitch, next pitch, next pitch,’ and just kinda stay in the moment.”
Jack Leiter is currently ranked as the #2 overall draft prospect, according to ESPN. Scouts have to be champing at the bit after watching his performance on Saturday.
