Chelsea Fans Are Creating An Online Movement To Stop Tom Ricketts From Purchasing Their Team

Many soccer fans were surprised to hear the latest bidder for the powerhouse English team of Chelsea was American and Chicago Cubs owner, Tom Ricketts.

On Tuesday afternoon it was even reported that the Ricketts family has moved into the driver’s seat to purchase Chelsea — with Tom flying out to London to hopefully walk away with a deal.

Shortly after the news was announced, Chelsea fans took to Twitter to try to axe the sale of their beloved club to Tom Ricketts.

The fans have even gotten the #NoToRicketts hashtag trending all over the web.

Tom Ricketts and family has caught flak in the United States for their republican ties, joining Donald Trump’s cabinet back in the former President’s tenure.

Now, the family has been accused of being cheap as the Cubs have gone from contender to full-sale mode in a matter of years.

If Tom Ricketts and his family end up inking their purchase of Chelsea, it’s bound to be an unpopular move. And he’ll undoubtedly be forced to shell out to acquire talent on both the pitch and baseball diamond before he can get back in the good graces of either fan base.
