Tyrann Mathieu Says One Young QB Reminds Him Of Tom Brady

Count star safety Tyrann Mathieu among the many people around the country impressed with what Joe Burrow was able to do with the Bengals last season.

After being carved up by Burrow and the high-powered Bengals offense during the AFC Championship last season, Mathieu had nothing but praise for Joey B.

“I knew his mental makeup, but to be on the field with him and experience it in real time, it makes you experience it more,” Mathieu said on the Jordy Culotta show. “He doesn’t flinch. You gotta remember, both of the times we played them we were up. The first time we played them we were up 21-7. Then the second time we played them we were up 21-3. That’s championship composure.”

Tyrann Mathieu also went to LSU, so he’s obviously a big fan of the Joe Burrow-Ja’Marr Chase connection. But he also thinks Burrow has some shades of the GOAT in him.

“It was tough to stop Joe,” said Mathieu. “The league is built for guys like Joe and Ja’Marr. When you piece together the mental and smarts of the game, he will be doing that for a long time. I see a lot of (Tom) Brady in him. He doesn’t flinch.”

After shining with the Chiefs last season, Tyrann Mathieu remains a free agent. And by the sounds of it, he wouldn’t mind joining Joe Burrow’s Bengals if they’re willing to open up their checkbooks.
