New Report Paints Grim Picture Of How 49ers View Trey Lance

By all indications, the 49ers appear to be turning from Jimmy Garoppolo to Trey Lance for this upcoming season. But that’s not to say they’re particularly thrilled with his progression.

On Thursday, a bombshell report is claiming the 49ers aren’t fully in on Lance at all.

According to NFL insider Matt Lombardo, the Niners’ brass is ‘underwhelmed by Trey Lance to this point.

Contrary to this report, 49ers GM John Lynch said recently that the team is behind Trey Lance.

“We are great believers in what Trey Lance brings to the table,” said Lynch. “We believe he’s ready. He’s going to have to show that. I think he’s ready to show that to us, show that to his teammates, and show that to the world. We’re excited for that opportunity that he has.”

So far, the Niners have not found a trade partner for Jimmy Garoppolo. And if they really don’t love Trey Lance, it could be interesting to see if they hold on to Jimmy G as an insurance policy.
