Bettor Places Long Shot on Jameis Winston to Win Prestigious Award

Someone thinks very highly of Jameis Winston.

The New Orleans Saints re-signed quarterback Jameis Winston to a two-year deal during the offseason. Winston, a former No. 1 overall draft pick by the Bucs out of Florida State, is the favorite for the starting job after having success leading the team prior to an injury last season. Before tearing his ACL in October, Winston had 1,170 yards, 14 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on a 59% completion rate.

Now it appears one bettor is confident he’ll not only will be the starter, but he also thinks he’s going to win the MVP.

Current odds for Winston to bring home the NFL MVP is 150-1 via Caesars Sportsbook.

Winston recently spoke about his mentality:

“I kind of like that back-against-the-wall mentality,” Winston said. “It’s being in the dungeon by yourself, and just coming out of it when you’re ready—when you’re ready to declare to this world that you’ve been doing the work in silence. And you do that with actions. So that’s how I view it. We still have a long year ahead of us. I’m just trying to be prepared for every opportunity that presents itself.” via SI.

Winston has played in 83 games, with 1,665 completions for 20,982 yards and 135 touchdowns. If he could ever cut down on his turnovers he’d easily be able to win more games.
