One Team Emerging As Clear Favorites To Land Donovan Mitchell

Until yesterday, the Utah Jazz have maintained their plans to keep point guard Donovan Mitchell around for the future despite their plans to dismantle the current roster.

However, on Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Utah was now open to taking calls on their most valuable asset.

Now a clear favorite is emerging to land Donovan Mitchell: the New York Knicks.

Check out what ESPN’s Brian Windhorst had to say about the potential blockbuster deal on “Get Up” this morning:

“The Knicks have eight tradable first round picks and a need and a desire for a star player like Donovan Mitchell, who is from the New York area,” Windhorst said. “Some people believe this is an inevitability – it’s just a matter of what price can be negotiated. Other teams are interested in Mitchell, and it can go in a different direction. They can keep Mitchell, or at least posture that they’re going to keep Mitchell. But I think we’re going to hear a lot about Mitchell and the New York Knicks in the coming days.”

The Knicks recently made a big splash when acquiring Jalen Brunson as a free agent, and perhaps that wasn’t the last big move they’ll be making to shore up their backcourt.

The other team being mentioned for a potential Mitchell move would be the Heat, but to this point, it appears as though they’re still holding out hope for Kevin Durant.

A Knicks-Donovan Mitchell deal could materialize in the very near future. And we’ll continue to track for updates.
