Awesome baby!
Announcing legend Dick Vitale announced this week that he is cancer-free after seven months. Vitale rang in the news outside Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida. The college basketball broadcaster thanked his physician, Dr. Richard Brown, and credited the famous speech from the late Jim Valvano:
“Don’t Give up DON’T EVER GIVE UP!” — for inspiration.
Vitale has raised more than $50 million to fight pediatric cancer for the Valvano-inspired V Foundation.
Watch Dickie V ring that bell below:
It was RING THE BELL TIME ! Yes it was a tough 7 months but it was super hearing Dr Brown @SMHCS say that I have zero cancer currently .I was inspired daily by the famous words of my late buddy Jimmy V “Don’t Give up DON’T EVER GIVE UP!” @amyuf @jksports @ESPNPR pic.twitter.com/uRQEzjOug2

Vitale returned to the ESPN broadcast booth back in November and was extremely emotional upon calling the game between Gonzaga and UCLA, who were at that point ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the country.
College basketball is so much better when Dickie V is calling games.
Truly Awesome baby!
