Deion Sanders announced he will be taking over as the new head football coach at Jackson State late Sunday night, and in typical Deion Sanders fashion, the party was on.
Deion Sanders was named head coach of Jackson State today.

It looks like it would be a good day to rob a bank in Jackson, Mississippi, as nearly every police officer seems to be tending to “prime time’s” ceremony. Seriously though, only Deion Sanders gets this type of entrance as a football coach in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
“I am truly blessed to be the 21st Head football coach of Jackson State University,” Deion Sanders said in the school’s statement Monday. “It’s my desire to continue this storied tradition and history of JSU and prayerfully bring more national recognition to the athletes, the university, the Sonic Boom of the South, and HBCUs in general.”

Sanders also made it very clear what he’d like to be referred to as in his new gig.

Coach Prime it is Deion. Along with the circus of a celebration, Sanders had plenty to say when talking about his new role. He was asked on his new podcast 21st & Prime why he was taking the job at Jackson State.
“Why not? Isn’t this the time?” Sanders said. “Isn’t this the moment? Isn’t this what’s needed? To match what our president eloquently said, it’s a match made in heaven. This is a God move.”
I don’t think it would be a stretch to say that this is the biggest thing to happen to the Jackson State football program in a very long time, and the celebration signified that sentiment.
Jackson State’s last winning season was in 2013. they finished 6-9 overall, and 5-5 in the SWAC East last season.
