Chicago Bulls Receive More Troubling News On Lonzo Ball’s Injury

Chicago Bulls point guard Lonzo Ball has been out since early January with a torn meniscus. And every time the team tries to ramp up his recovery ahead of the postseason, it’s gone south.

Last month, Bulls coach Billy Donovan revealed that Lonzo was having some discomfort when they tried to get him running again.

“The feeling was, let’s really pull back on what he’s doing and let’s let him, I don’t want to use the word rest because it’s not like he’s sitting around doing nothing — he’ll do strength training and those kind of things — but take a break on the running and trying to ramp him up,” Donovan said.

“We’ll have a better feel of that once they get through this next 10 days,” Donovan continued. “Obviously, it’s coming to the end of the season. … I think that they felt like, ‘OK if he can, over this 10-day period, really get back to the ramp-up period, because he has been out for quite some time,’ that would enable him to get back into contact relatively soon.”

Now, the Bulls tried ramping up Lonzo Ball’s rehab again. And again, he’s reacted poorly.

It was reported today that Ball had yet another setback during his recovery.

NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski also revealed that, at this point, it’s looking more and more likely that the team decides to shut down Lonzo Ball for the rest of the year.

During their recent stretch of poor play against top teams, the Bulls have shown that they desperately need Lonzo Ball back at full strength to be considered a serious contender in the Eastern Conference. But unfortunately, that isn’t looking very likely.

Perhaps Bulls fans will have to wait until next season until they get to see Ball back on the floor.
