Despite a disappointing first half of the season, the Yankees opted to be buyers at the trade deadline, acquiring Joey Gallo along with Anthony Rizzo.

So far, the move for Rizzo is paying off. But the Yankees are going to have to hope for more heroics from #44 and the rest of their roster if they want to make a playoff push.

The Yankees are currently 6.5 games back of the Rays for first place in the AL East. But they’re just 2.5 games back of the A’s for the second wild card spot.

There’s no doubting that the Yankees are far from a perfect baseball team, but perhaps they can still give themselves a puncher’s chance to make a run if they continue to get other-worldly production out of Anthony Rizzo.
