Pirates Third Baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes Called Out After Home Run Because He Failed To Step On First Base

KeBryan Hayes became the latest member of the Pittsburgh Pirates to become a metaphor for what an absolute dumpster fire the 2021 team is.

First, we had first baseman Will Craig allowing Cubs shortstop Javier Baez to get him in a run down between first base and home plate to get a run across, in what must have been a top-five craziest play in the history of baseball.

On Tuesday night, third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes added to the bloopers reel when he failed to touch first base after hitting a home run against the Dodgers.

Oh no 🤦‍♂️

Ke’Bryan Hayes was later ruled out after the Dodgers challenged the play.

I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy to be a Pittsburgh Pirates fan right now.

The worst part is that Ke’Bryan Hayes is actually one of the more promising players they have on their roster. The young third basemen has proven in his short time in the MLB that he could be one of very few players that the Pirates can build around for their future.

On the season, the Pirates currently sit at a lowly 23-35, and have the second-worst winning percentage in the National League (in front of only the Arizona Diamondbacks).

Luckily for Ke’Bryan Hayes, nobody really cares if the Pirates win or lose during their rebuild. Maybe this boneheaded play will be a good learning experience for the kid?
