Detectives Have Determined What Caused Tiger Woods To Crash His Car

The Los Angeles Police Department has concluded their investigation into what caused the single-car accident that left PGA legend Tiger Woods hospitalized and in need of surgery.

While the sheriff’s department did not ask for search warrants on Tiger’s blood samples, which would show if he was under the influence, they did receive the data from his vehicle known as the “black box”.  While the investigators say that the cause of the crash has now been determined, they also said that those results will remain private due to privacy concerns.

“A cause has been determined, the investigation has concluded,” sheriff Alex Villanueva said during a live social media event Wednesday in response to a question posed by The Associated Press.

Villanueva would go on to explain why the details will remain private.

“We have reached out to Tiger Woods and his personnel,” Villanueva said. “There’s some privacy issues on releasing information on the investigation so we’re going to ask them if they waive the privacy and then we will be able to do a full release on all the information regarding the accident.”

The AP also spoke with Joseph Giacalone, a professor at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a retired New York City Police Department sergeant, who was extremely critical of the department’s decision to allow Tiger Woods to keep the results private.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen a department ever ask for permission like that,” he said. “What happens if his lawyers say ‘no, you can’t send it out now.’ And then where does that leave us?”

Giacalone said if the individual had not been famous, there is no chance the information would be kept private.

“I don’t think they would have asked any family member of us if they can come out with it,” he said.

While there is plenty of intrigue and speculation on what may have caused Tiger Woods to veer off-road, we’ll most likely never know.
