Buffalo Sabres Beat Writer Savagely Trolls Coach Ralph Krueger By Saying An Ex-Coach (Who Is Now Dead) Could Get More Out Of The Team

Buffalo Sabres coach Ralph Krueger doesn’t seem to have many supporters around the NHL. It appears to be a foregone conclusion that he will be fired at some point, it’s just a matter of when…not if. Maybe it would be best if Buffalo just ripped off the band-aid now, and let Krueger go.

According to Sabres beat writer for The Athletic John Vogl, a dead man would be doing a better job than Ralph Krueger.

Vogl wrote a column naming some potential candidates to take over the head coaching job, and absolutely roasted Ralph Krueger in his lede.

Via The Athletic:

“Punch Imlach, the Sabres’ first coach, died in 1987.

He still might get more out of this team than Ralph Krueger.

The Sabres can’t score, defend, hit, compete, stop pucks or win. And, after hearing about their lack of confidence from Krueger every day for a month, they know they can’t do those things.”

Boom, shots fired!

In Vogl’s defense, Ralph Krueger has been just atrocious during his tenure as Buffalo Sabres head coach. On the year, the Sabres are 6-17-4, which is good for the worst record in the entire NHL. Krueger has been the Sabres coach since the beginning of last season, when the team went 30-31-8.

The Buffalo Sabres are going to need a coach who can come in and completely change the culture. One thing is for sure, Ralph Krueger ain’t the answer.
