Even with several powerful individuals and organizations speaking out, Brittney Griner appears to be stuck in Russian custody for the foreseeable future.
With her trial coming up, Russia’s government announced that she will remain in custody for (at least) six months.

Last week, Russian officials released a statement on their plans with Brittney Griner.
“She violated Russian law, and now she’s being prosecuted,” Peskov said. “It’s not about being a hostage. There are lots of American citizens here. They’re enjoying their freedoms … but you have to obey the laws,” a spokesman to Vladimir Putin said.
With her trial coming up later in the week, it has been reported that Brittney Griner could face up to 10 years in a Russian jail if she receives the harshest punishment.
We’re all hoping for the best in this situation, and that Griner is returned back home soon.
