The New York Mets have had a long run of poor play lead to them completely losing their once-comfortable lead in the NL East. And comments by general manager Zack Scott aren’t going to help the matter.
When speaking to reporters on his team’s performance, Scott said the play has been ‘mediocre’ all season, and referred to the recent skid as ‘unacceptably bad’.
"We've played very mediocre baseball for most of the year. This recent stretch has been much worse than mediocre. We would've taken mediocre at this point. For this stretch it's been unacceptably bad and we need to be better" – Zack Scott pic.twitter.com/GTM29k78bi

Zack Scott and the Mets decided to be buyers during the Trade Deadline, bringing in Javier Baez to come fill fill the void of the injured Francisco Lindor, while also proving to compliment the middle infield once he comes back.
But after losing seven of eight since the deadline (and losing Baez to injury) the Mets now have to somehow find a way to pick up the pieces with an injury-ravaged roster.
Instead of maintaining a united front with his players, Zack Scott decided he was also going to blame the guys who got hurt, calling the injuries a “compliance” issue.
"Most of the time, it's compliance issues"
Zack Scott says there's no systemic issues with the Mets' training staff in regards to injuries this season, and soft tissue injuries can be linked back to players not following through completely on plans set in place for them pic.twitter.com/82xIQULReK

Zack Scott fell into the general manager role after Jared Porter was fired due to inappropriately sending messages to females. And it doesn’t look like he’s the guy poised to take over the Mets’ front office for years to come.
Despite everything falling apart for the Mets recently, they’re not out of this. Jacob deGrom and Francisco Lindor will be back off the IL soon, and they’re only 2.5 games behind the Phillies in the division race.
Sure, things aren’t great in Queens right now, and the team needs to play better. But it just feels like Zack Scott picked the absolute worst time to decide to throw his players under the bus.
