White Sox Smash Four Straight Home Runs; 10th Team in MLB History to Achieve the Feat

The White Sox became the tenth team in MLB history to hit four straight home runs in a game on Sunday.

Yoan Moncada, Yasmani Grandal, Jose Abreu, and Eloy Jimenez all hit fifth-inning home runs off of reliever Roel Ramirez who was making his Major League debut.

The White Sox became the second franchise to accomplish the feat twice as they previously hit four straight homers almost 12 years to the day on August 14, 2008 — a game which I happened to be in attendance.

I haven’t confirmed this stat, but I imagine Roel Ramirez is the first pitcher to give up four consecutive home runs in his Major League debut. I’m actually quite surprised that Ramirez even decided to challenge Eloy Jimenez who has the most prolific power out of anybody on the White Sox roster.

Ramirez was removed from the game after allowing the home run to Jimenez, and Edwin Encarnacion promptly struck out to end the home run rally. No team has ever hit five consecutive home runs in an inning.
