With the pandemic still going strong, limited fans will be attending this year’s Super Bowl, things are going to look a little different. Especially during the Super Bowl halftime show, which in past performances, always sees the main act perform in the middle of the field. Not this year. This year, things are going to be taking place in the stands.

The Weeknd’s innovative Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday will be performed in the stands, Page Six has exclusively learned, as a way to put on a blockbuster live show and observe COVID-19 safety precautions.

The show will be “only in the stands and nothing in the field,” said a source. “It’s really phenomenal, different and historic.”

Another source confirmed the stage and sets will all be in the stands — but added that The Weeknd could step onto the field during the show.
