The internet is a place where a lot of weird things happen, especially in the realm of sports. On Tuesday, the latest phenomenon emerged on Twitter, eliciting reactions from NBA players and curious fans everywhere. The game resembles basketball in that the main goal seems to be getting a ball in the hoop. Outside of that, it is a completely different game. It is something you truly have to see to believe. Feast your eyes on one of the strangest sports you will ever see: “Rugball”.

The game is unlike anything I have ever seen, however, the name “Rugball” sums it up pretty well. It is basically Rugby, meets basketball, played by a bunch of wrestlers. Definitely not what James Naismith had in mind when he envisioned the game of basketball.  Having said that, it seems like a fun game for wrestlers. We all know that wrestler who is pretty good at basketball but is just way too aggressive on defense.

There you have it, ladies and gentlemen. I give you “Rugball”. Maybe it will catch on in the United States after going viral on Twitter. Props to Russia for their creativity.
