Unsung Player Sells More Jerseys than MLB Superstar Mike Trout

Mike Trout is arguably the most famous name in Major League Baseball. He’s easily the best overall player, and one day he’ll go into the hall of Fame. But just wait a minute, there’s another player who is rising up the ranks with fans. Kiké Hernández is a good baseball player, not even close the caliber of Trout. It was still a massive surprise when his name turned up on the list of the most purchased baseball jerseys.

See below:

Hernández was pretty surprised as well:

“Not just the fact that it was in front of Mike [Trout], but the fact I was top 10 in the big leagues, to me, that was mind-blowing,” Hernández said Wednesday afternoon. “There are so many really, really good players in the big leagues and the fact that only eight of them sold more jerseys than me last year, I don’t know how that happened. I am truly humbled and honored. It truly is an honor to be on that list. I don’t have much to say because that was completely unexpected.”

Pretty amazing that a player who has never received an All-Star nod or MVP vote  has more jerseys sold than Trout.

A perfect example of how baseball doesn’t know how to market its stars.
