UCF Quarterback McKenzie Milton Announces He’s Transferring Two Years After Suffering Gruesome Knee Injury

McKenzie Milton is proving to be a true feel-good story. Two years after doctors had to save his leg from amputation, the former UCF phenom quarterback is ready to play football again. However, it won’t be with the UCF Knights. Milton announced his plans to transfer earlier today.

“I know my clock is ticking,” Milton said via ESPN. “I’ve only got one more year to play, and the momentum Dillon has, I wouldn’t want any controversy in the locker room. He’s earned the right to be the starter here at UCF. I see that, and I feel it’s best for both UCF and myself that I move on elsewhere. I’m trying to chase the dream of playing in the NFL, so I’ve got to give myself the best opportunity to do that.”

Milton was an absolute stud during his time at UCF. After playing as a starter his freshman year, Milton led the Knights to an undefeated season as a sophomore in 2017. Milton figured to be in the Heisman discussion in 2018, and had his team at 11-0 before his terrible knee injury occurred in UCF’s rivalry game against USF. Milton dislocated his right knee and suffered ligament, nerve and artery damage, injuries most people don’t come back from.

Milton was told by doctors that he would likely never play football ever again. He wouldn’t accept that. The quarterback worked tirelessly to get to a point where he now feels comfortable showing off his skills to any team that wants to take a chance on him.

“I’m going to tell them I feel really good, and I’ve got film to show them from scout team, making all the throws, making throws on the run,” Milton said when asked what he would tell teams. “But I’ll also let them know I’ll be ready to compete full go in spring ball for a starting job, and by the time the season rolls around I’m going to be 100 percent ready to go. I’m confident in that. There’s nothing for me to hide. I’ll do whatever I have to do. It’s not anything I’m worried about. If that was something I was concerned about, I probably wouldn’t be making this move.”

I’ll tell you one thing, I wouldn’t be against Mckenzie Milton. Any team would be lucky to have him as their quarterback. What a story.
