Chicago Bears fans were completely pumped up when the team traded up in the first round of the NFL Draft to select Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields.

While the love affair between Fields and the city of Chicago appears to be coming, free agent signee Andy Dalton probably won’t be too happy about the whole thing. The Bears signed Dalton in the offseason, and made a promise to him that he’d be their “QB1”.
As we know, things change, and now the Bears have their quarterback of the future in Justin Fields.
Fans swarmed to social media to joke about Andy Dalton.

While fans might think this means Justin Fields will be the starting quarterback in Week 1 of 2021, that will probably not be the case. Bears GM Ryan Pace told reporters after selecting Fields that Andy Dalton was still the starter going into the season next year, which will allow them time for Fields to develop.
However, if Dalton falters at all, fans will be calling for Fields. And I would be surprised if he doesn’t become the Bears’ starter at some point over the course of the season.
